Cool Improvements to the LS430 for 2004-2006

Aside from some of the more substantial things that were added or enhanced, i discovered some things that were nice touches and didn't see this listed anywhere.
  • The 2004-2006 rear sunshade folds down in reverse (like the 2001-2003), but returns to the UP position when you return to a forward gear.
  • When misting your windshield (using the wiper control on the steering column), the headlight sprayer also sprays automatically on 2004-2005 models equipped with headlamp washers.

I'm comparing how my 2001 LS430 UL behaved compared to my 2005 LS430 UL. I'm sure I'll find other little improvements over the next few months of ownership.

Only when your headlight is also on. I don't find this very good actually. If I wanted my headlights washed, I would hit the headlight washer button. I find that the washer gets the hood wet with fluid more than it actually "washes." Also, is windshield washer fluid that sits on paint okay, because after it squirts, it sits on the hood and dries up.

My 2002 LS430UL' rear sunshade returns to the UP position after I reverse and put back into drive.

Could this have been a C-best setting? My 2001 didn't return up...

I'd check your 2001 manual, maybe they didn't implement it until 2002. My 2002 manual says:

To raise the rear electric sunshade, push the switch. To
lower the shade, push the same switch again.
The sunshade works when the ignition switch is in the “ON”
position.

When the selector lever is shifted into the “R” position
while the sunshade is raised, the sunshade will be
automatically lowered.

To raise the sunshade again, perform any of the following
operations:
* Shift the selector lever into the “P” position.
* Shift the selector lever into a position other than “P” or “R”
and then push the switch again.
* Move the selector lever out of “R” position and drive your
vehicle over 15 km/h (9 mph).

I don't have headlight washers, but if I did I'd see it the same way. I don't like rain-sensing wipers either. I MUCH prefer the adjustable intermittent feature.

I love the rain-sensing wipers. I leave it on auto all of the time and it works perfectly through all rain conditions (mist, torrential downpour, sun, night, hot, cold, low speed and high).

Not to mention when the jerk infront of you washes his windshield and covers you in crud, or when a truck splashes mud all over you. I can't get enough of the auto-wipers. Pull under a bridge and they stop...I don't miss the stick-shift driving the LS430 either. Go figure.

I thought i lost my mind, but looked at my old 2001 manual and it states:
When the selector lever is shifted into the “R” position while the sunshade is raised, the sunshade will be automatically lowered. To raise the sunshade, move the selector level out of "R" position and push the switch again.

Guess this WAS indeed fixed after 2001. Thanks for the clarification.
