Default Rim and tire protection- Yea or Nay?

I can't seem to find any info with the search function guys.

I was offered 5yrs of rim and tire protection for 700 on my LS at the dealer. it would include curb rash. I am wondering if it would be worth to have. I have till the end of january to make my decision. i wa only given a brochure and it did not have the fine print. I am assuimng that in order to have this rim and tire protection, I would be forced to buy tires and have all my service done at the dealer I may be wrong, im jst assuming that this would be the case as many other warranties seem to have that as a stipulation in order to get anything done from the warranty. Should I just be careful and pay for damage if and when it happens? Full rim repair and refinishing could only be 175 or so at a time. the clock is ticking and im not sure what to do. what are your thoughts?

About the only causes of curb rash I can think of are parallel parking and u-turns. If you or other drivers of the car don't do these things, why bother. I maybe do these things about once a year. However, I know some women whose wheels seem magically attracted to curbs.

Unless you parallel park, then no.

I happen to do alot of parallel parking, so it would be ideal for me, but I probably still wouldn't buy it.

I doubt its practicality or usefulness, not to mention the exact details of what will be covered comes repair time.

Keep this in mind, you can basically a used set of wheels for that much, so i say double nay.

I think this is a sucker bet considering the cost - put $700 in the bank instead. You can find rim repair places that do wheel exchanges for about 175 if and when it happens.

also remember that almost all of the risk exposure is for two wheels and tires on the right side of the vehicle. I say it's not worth it.

No way too. Save the money and buy some rims and tires after you are tired of your old.
