Default Ls430 or GS430 as a daily drive

I am looking at purchasing either a LS430 or the GS430. The GS430 (2006) has more Kms and 1 year younger. LS430 (we don't get the air suspension version in Australia) is a 2005 but very low km and in show room condition. Both cars are about the same money.

I've driven both cars and I like the solid and quiet feel of the LS430 but looks bland. The GS430 looks sportier but has more cabin noise.

The main function of the car is as a daily driver. Stuck mostly in traffic. The roads here (Sydney Australia) is average.

I've got a couple of motorcycles to get my rocks off which is way faster than most cars on the road. There are alot of speed and red light cameras so a fast car is a waste of time.

Any input would be great.

Ultimately it is going to be up to you, I love my ls430. as you mentioned it a more solid feeling car, but the GS is a little more sporty of a car. And if the LS is too bland for you, you can always spice it up!

In this case i think LS430 would be the right choice and if you think LS looks a little ugly there's always a fix for that just like the guy above me said.

I have a `96 LS400 and a `98 GS400, both with over 200K miles. As a daily driver "stuck mostly in traffic" I use the LS and save the GS for weekends. I find less cabin noise like you said, but I also feel more relaxed in the LS (less agressive) which is better on my way to an from work. The choice is yours but I'd suggest the LS.

I know the GS is going to feel and look sportier but for daily commuting usage I would think LS would allow for more leg room , comfort, and a quieter cabin. Thats what you are really going to use in traffic. Save the GS for Friday through Sunday

I agree with many others on here. I also bought a ls430 to use as a daily commuting car. I travel around 40 miles each way every day and the ls430 is a big different comparing to the GS. I still have the GS but its for the weekend lol

Okay, if you're going to be stuck in traffic, then really what does a "sporty" car do for you? Stuck in traffic, you want a smooth, quiet, get out of the traffic mood kind of car and the LS is ultimate for just removing you from headache.

I would think that having the GS would tick you off even more stuck in traffic because you'll be thinking "oh F, if this F'n traffic would free up, I can punch this thing and get to work..." Although, the LS430 is probably just as fast, if not faster, than the GS430.

My money on LS. GS is Scarlet Johanssen, you'll love her because she's ga ga gorgeous, but you'll always think she's too loud and if she's the right one. The LS is all Kate Beckinsale, all beautiful and not drop dead gorgeous but beautiful enough that you know you did right and she'll be beautiful for a long time.

well since you said you have bikes for speed i would vote for the ls, but now i have a question for you. since your in australia do you get the jdm versions of all these cars? if so the air suspension package is the UI package on the celsior but if you can get the rhd jdm toyotas then i would definitely vote for a toyota crown majesta or the new hybrid crown i think 07 or 08 they started it. this is the best luxo sedan to me in this price range and if its available in your area i would look into the $$ of one of these.

or if you wanted a little more fun the crown athlete is a super cool choice as well. i think the crown lineup has like 5 to choose from ranging from a sporty gs side (athlete) to a super luxo side with the (majesta).

We get the LS with the Euro tune suspension. No air suspension at all. There might be a couple of personal imports that came from Japan which has the TEMS suspension, but I'm not sure?

Isn't the Toyota crown a V12 or was this the Toyota Century which looks like it was stuck in the 60s time warp!

Same as the US 3rd Gen GS430. Officially Australia only received the GS300 2nd Gen but a few Aristo 3litre twin turbo did manage to be personally imported.
