Default Chrome door strip

I need help on how to remove the chrome door strip that is in the middle of the door and goes all the way around the car. Mine is rusting underneath and Lexus of Portland says it will not cover it due to it not being "part of the body" even though it is not the strip but what it is connected to. I am going to pull them and treat the rust with a catalyst that I have used in the past.

Thanks for any help you may have.

Can you take a picture of the rust? Sure it's not just discoloration of the chrome? I don't think that piece can be removed as a standalone piece. It's probably clipped onto the under molding and I would imagine you have to remove the molding.

I don't have the "rust" problem so never tried removing. I did have the discoloration and hazing on the chrome along the rear window and I got it out just puffing and cleaning with a sliver polisher.

Thanks for the reply, but I found out today it is the actual trim peice that is rusting. It is definitley rust. Lexus confirmed it, I can only trust them at this point. They want $240 for the single door trim piece! Crazy. It is barely noticable so I am just goint to clean it up.
