Package Shelf Speaker with Mark Levinson

On an '05 LS430 -with Mark Levinson, it does not sound like the rear speaker in the package shelf is working - does anyone know if it should be working at all times or is it a bass amplifier

That is an 8" subwoofer and should be on at all times.

keep in mind that it is only for bass. put on some music with bass and try turning the bass up and the volume up a little and listen closely, there should be bass coming from it.
