Thanks. The scuffs you see in the pictures were mostly just dirt or a mark from a box or something. They wiped off with a damp cloth. It does have a few very small marks on the back of the seats, but that's pretty standard in a 5 year old car. A dab of shoe dye on a q-tip, and you can pretty much make those disappear - however someone would have to really be looking close for those. The car needs a good detail, which I'll get to in the next few weeks.

Well my car left me stranded tonight. Battery crapped out while I was out to dinner with friends. How embarassing! Got some help from some people I didn't know, and ended up swapping it out for a new one. Roadside told me it wasn't covered under warranty. Crap!

I wouldn't feel too bad about having to replace a 5 year old battery. In your first post, you mentioned possible battery problem.
You thought you got a great buy, which I'm sure you did, and should be happy with your car.
I hate to see disgruntled Lexus owners. Cheer up.

I wouldn't have been quite as upset if the terminal wasn't so corroded. I mean I had the car under six days. It was the FIRST time we used the car to take friends out to a nice anything. There was a lot more to the story than I posted, so it just got under my skin. The battery should have been replaced if it was leaking that badly. It should have been caught.
The other thing I found was that the coolant recovery cap that should be snapped onto the recovery tank below the intake scoop was caught up in the serpentine belt drive, rubbing on the idler tensioner getting chewed up. So the recovery tank has some dirt in it. How was that missed in the inspection? It's not like it can just fall off. I knew I could smell coolant, so I fixed that myself even though the cap has a bit of damage now. Looks like I need to pull the recovery tank and flush it out.
I emailed the dealer about my issues. I'm heading out of town so hopefully when I get back they'll do something for me. I could understand this on a Chevy Cavalier for example, but not a CPO Lexus. I've bought a lot of crap cars and never had to replace a battery the first week. It's usually the first thing I do, but in this case it was hard to swallow.

yeah i feel your pain about the cpo lex. the first ls430UL i looked at was supposed to be a cpo and what you describe is exactly the small types of things i noticed on that cpo a while back. i came to the realization that most lex dealerships aren't in the business of selling used cars. they are in the business of selling new cars and selling maintenance on used cars go figure huh!!
i hope they do the right thing for you and take care of what should have already been taken care of.
