About to leave 430 for the 460

I like that switch up! LMAO. Gotta know when to turn it off and on when living in the DC/Baltimore area but plus 1 to both statements.

LOL Sounds familiar. I built a '66 F100 at 14, then had a '69 SS396 Nova at 16, then a '70 Charger (originally 383, then built 446) at 17-22, then a '76 455 Trans Am as my first vehicles. I definitely wouldn't mind having them to sell now (not really too much interest in driving them beyond a nostalgia/novelty drive), but then that same $ invested in the market back then would probably be worth more now, especially if anything was spent on upkeep of the vehicle. Of course no 14-25 year old is going to be investing money instead of wasting it on cars.

Here I go again... sticking it to you guys. I have basically the main three "types" of vehicles, a 2-door 5-speed manual, a SUV, and a big sedan. The three give me balance in terms of needs at certain times. Do I feel like just crusing and taking it easy? LS. There's snow on the ground and I have things to haul... RX. I'm just driving to work and want a little fun getting there, I take my GS-R. Each it's own characteristic, and each just different enough where after all these years I'm not bored with any of them. I think for the family that gets bored with their 430, it's probably because the other car is a similiar vehicle and so there isn't that balance of vehicles.

I have owned special interests cars since college, some of which have required more attention than others. Most have been large cars from the 1960's and 1970's. One of my special interests cars I have now is a 1967 Lincoln convertible. My last daily driver before this LS is an S Class. I purchased this LS because I wanted a "simpler" ownership. I would guess I have not put 100 miles on any other car I have since I bought the LS. I don't miss the complications one bit.

I think(I don't know, just my opinion don't harrass me) that the LS460 is flawed!! Meaning that when I super hot car comes out it doesnt have this many owners of the previous generation who just dont want it. When I say flawed, Im not speaking of the wind noise and body style. Im speaking of the attraction we all feel to nice ride. Most men(some woman) have a relationship with there cars that is personal like another member said. That means the car feels like an extension of us in a way. For some of us that extension we feel is small and for others its huge!!!
The LS 430 was the car I saw before I owned it I wanted when I has a GS400,ML500,S430 Mercedes! Those cars were great and the S-Class is in my opinion a more upsacle car. That said, the LS430 was just better. How was it better than my S 430? I can't explain it but, the S-Class had leather that was more expensive in feel and look and other interior and exterior features that were better but, the LS 430 felt right.
It looked as good but, didnt have the feel of the performance you get with European makes but, IT FELT RIGHT!!! 8 years later I still have my LS430 and I have never kept a car for longer than 2 years. This one just feels right. The LS460 doesnt make me and as I can see other members want it, this car was probably what most of us wanted since 2000 when it first came out!!! L.G.N.M

yep. In 2001 I distinctly remember that I saw the LS430 come out, went a looked at it, and I decided that I would buy one when I could buy a used one in a couple of years, so that I could afford it. Well it turns out I had to wait 8 years before timing, circumstances, and finances aligned so I could get a used LS (note I don't do car loans so saving the $ takes time). I had also previously purchased a 99 Acura RL so I was pretty satisfied car wise and could wait and take my time.
When the LS460 came out, I did not feel any desire to the LS460 at all. It may be well a better car in all ways, and I respect everyone's right and taste to like one more than another, but the 460 just doesn't do it for me like 430 does. I am happy about that because I don't have the $ for a 460.
A wise man once told me learn to love what you can have, and not what you can't : )

Interesting discussion, but here's my 2 cents. I own a LS 400 and and LS 460 (not an LS 430, though), yet each is completely different from the other. I love both cars, but am selling the LS 400 to go down to one car. The LS 430 should be the perfect car for me and I've test driven several of them. I would love to "trade down" from the LS 460 to the LS 430, but can't get past the slower acceleration of the LS 430 compared to the LS 460. That's the one thing that makes a big difference for me. I'm a big Lexus fan and can't say anything bad about any of the LS models, but I prefer the 460 to the 430.

There are folks who own no cars out here and have lost there homes and jobs and families due to the economy. Sometimes I feel were spoiled in the states having traveled abroad and seen how much the states give us for free and the opportunities here!!! Im happy with my LS430 and I feel why those who like the 460 better do. That said, its about being happy with what you have and not making a choice based on keeping up with the Jones'!!!L.G.N.M

Hey sojah, only with age do we become WISE. I use to try and keep up wit the JONES myself. I humbly say what I say because of my own guilt of doing the very things I said others should avoid. I just hope smeone reads what me and you have said and becomes hppy with there LS or ES or GS or whaever! Took me 34 years to become a little WISE and Im sure and humbly say I have years to go to become WISE as I need t be and lookf= forward to being a better man and example.
I can afford a new LS460 or used. I didnt this time go out and buy one because I saw what I was doing as showboating a bit. I grew up poor and began to not see how a car of any type is a blessing. The economic downturn is what brung me back to reality as friends and family lost homes cars etc.! I saw how fortunate I am and blessed I was. I said after the economy crashed I'd buy only when I need here on out. I dont want others to do as I am. I just want to be better and do better! Im judged based on my actions and it took me 34 years to see that. I wont judge any HUMAN who decides to buy new every year or does as I. I want to be a good example! L.G.N.M(Love God Not Money)
