Two words - wind noise

I considered a LS460 before narrowing my search to the LS430. I got a sense that there are generally more problems with 460s than 430s - beyond wind noise. Also, the 430 meets our ergonomic needs better.

I admire some things about the 460, but based upon multiple test drives of both cars back-to-back, I honestly prefer the look and feel of the 430. I'm not saying I'll never own a 460, but I have no desire to switch at this time.

I've been giving this some thought too, but I wouldn't give up my 05 UL for anything less than a 460 L and the L's are usually like 8k more. I believe the L w/ certain optains is the equivalant of our 430 UL's.

That car u speak of would be at least 47k if it were an L and this is what I recommend a fellow UL er to set their sights on. A newer far lesser optioned car is not better, now a newer similar optioned or better optioned car, now that's a upgrade. But until those low mileage 460 L's come down to about 40k I'm keepin my 05 UL. Good luck man I know its a tough one to think about

I've never driven a 460, but in the 2 months that I have owned my 430 CL I have had two 460 drivers try to buy it from me. Both were previous 430 owners and wanted to get back into one.

The 460 is a nice, and some ways probably superior mechanical vehicle, but there's just something not "right" about it. I love my 430... will for a long time. I don't think I'll ever get the 460, but who knows... maybe when the LS450L-AWD or 470L-AWD comes out, I might think about it.

my 06 LS430 stays with me until electric/hybrid technology has matured and is more economically viable - likely about 8 years (2 auto gens) from now. Sorry but the 460 does nothing for me - doesn't even look very special like the 430 does. The 460 adds more expense, more depreciation, lots more complication, more stuff to break, more maint cost - no thanks.

Lucky you! I think the 460 is better than 430 in almost everyway. However I would wait on the 460 until I can get fully loaded LS460L/LS600hL (4 me), because I would miss all the rear seat controls, massagers, and extra leather around the center consol/glove compartment and around the door trim, not to mention the suede headliner found only in our Ultra model. I wouldn't go Top of the Line previous gen for Bottom of the Line current gen, thats just me. I'll wait

I drove a regular wheelbase 460 for a week. I found it to be superior to my 06 LS430 Ultra in every way and with much more rear seat leg room.
At this point I think my next car will be the LS460L AWD.

Alas, the LS460 may be one of our last chances to own a V8 sedan.

V8 Lexus sedan or any sedan? There will always (for foreseeable future) V8 sedans, but manufacturers are going to supplement them with V6 also. I can see a LS380 or 400 with V6.

another 430 keeper for now,, the wife and I have test drove three of them since they came out and nothing really seemed to stand out as being any better or nicer,, with only 50K on my 05 and nary an issue I am not in any hurry to move to a 460 but it will have to offer me something that really grabs me like my 430 did when I first drove it,,

when the 460 first came out and we drove one I now look back and know I would have been missing my 430,, such a a great car,,

I think one of the attributes of a great car is that you can drive it for years and never even think about wanting to replace it. You just don't see a new vehicle that makes you envious and have a desire to get it.

I felt that way for over 10 years after purchasing an SC400 in 1991. I feel that way again with my 04 UL.

Owning and driving a car is an emotional thing with us and I am very happy with my car. Only time will tell when I have a desire to replace this car.
