i think thats what lexus is going for. harder to keep clean means: 1) there has to be someone constantly cleaning it (which exudes someone who can afford to have it cleaned often or is an enthusiast), 2) it shows well with the luxury trim it offers (added luxury to the vehicle), and 3) light color of the interior (making it appear more appealing and inviting to be in such a vehicle). personally, i think it looks great with light colored vehicles (white, starfire pearl, and maybe breakwater blue pearl). i myself prefer a darker interior simply because i like dark cars- many swirls outside and dusty inside, but i will always try to keep it clean inside and out!

My wife misses the days of real colors in the interior. Her favorite was my dark blue 81 vette with the dark blue interior. She wishes every car came with a blue interior. She also liked my black 02 vette with the fire-engine red interior. I bought black floor and cargo mats to try to tone it down a little. My silver 92 Allante has a burgandy interior that she feels is too muted.
I always want an interior color that is different from my recent vehicles. My MKZ has an interior that is similar to ecru and my SRX and Denali had gray interiors. So, black and cashmere were were my first choices. Since I don't carry kids around and eating & drinking is banned in my cars, the only part of the interior that needs special cleaning attention is the driver's foot well - even with winter mats.
My wife still wants to know why I couldn't find a flint mica / blue combination. LOL

My car came with an extra set of Lexus rubber winter mats. I did not think I would use them in DFW but I put them in one day when it was rainy/muddy and we were going hiking that day, and have left them in so far this winter. They are great - nice and thick, sturdy, not slippery, look good, easy to clean. I guess they will stay in till summer starts again. So I definitely recommend getting the Lexus rubber mats.
