What's a good price for 2004 LS430 UL with 68000 miles? Looks like its a one owner car and pretty good condition.

Anyone know what's the process of buying a car out of state and having it shipped to me?

I just bought an 05 CL, non CPO, with 30K miles for $25.5K. The car was at a BMW dealer in Washington and I am in Michigan. Here are the steps I used:

- Spotted car on craiglook with no pics and a price of $25,991. Called to get info on car and the only thing the sales rep knew was that it was nice and had nav.

- Posted a request here and in the regional forum for someone in the Seattle area to look at the car, take a test drive, and take pics.

- Airtime said he worked next door and visited to take pics. He didn't have a chance to test drive. He posted the pics online and said the car looked very good with some minor scratches / scrapes to address.

- I placed a refundable credit card deposit on the car by phone and had the dealer take the car to Airtime's independent Lexus mechanic who is located just down the road from the dealer. I instructed the dealer to get quotes on shipping.

- Mechanic gave the car a clean review, but said it needed the 30K service.

- I negotiated price on the car with the sales manager. He weren't very flexible, which wasn't surprising given the asking price. He said they had a $900 quote for shipping. We agreed on a $25.5K price plus the shipping.

- Dealer contacted a notary company, Maverick, and fedexed the purchase paperwork to a local (to me) notary.

- I met with the local notary on Monday, signed all the forms, and handed over a certified check.

- I added the car to my insurance effective the day I signed the purchase agreement.

- Notary fedexed the package back to dealer.

- Dealer is scheduling the shipping of the car and sending me the paperwork and title separately.

- Per the transport company, the car should arrive at my house 5 days after it is loaded onto the truck.

- Once I have the paperwork, I will visit my Secretary of State office to apply for a title, pay 6% sales tax, and get plates for the car. I hope to do this right after the car arrives safely and before the 15-day no-penalty period for title application after purchase. (This part is not new to me since I've bought cars out-of-state before and transported them myself. This is the first time I've bought a car without a personal test drive, though.)

As for the price on your car, my local Lexus dealer had an 05 UL with 71K miles, non-CPO, briarwood listed for $23.7K.
