I have a drivers side headlight that is glitching , dosent always come on somtimes it does.
was curious if in these modern times that you could buy a replacement lamp at an aftermarket parts house or am i forced to go to the dealer to get a replacement?
I also realize that it may be a wiring/ballast issue. Jut trying to get armed with some info before i take it apart to fix.

Sounds like bulb failure. You can purchase the same OEM Philips D2R bulb from eBay for about $80/pair. Must change them in pairs, or they will ignite in different colors/brightness levels.

Werd. Bulbs will deteriorate over time. You can notice from their color change or when they start up. When you buy a new pair, go with Philips or other high reputation brands.

I have this problem right now with my 05 SC430. I brought it to the dealer and it is indeed the ballast/ headlight computer module. For me, it wasn't the bulb. The symptoms sound the same though. My light was "flickering" a lot and finally it went out. I smelled a "burnt battery" smell from my engine bay and brought it to the dealer. They said it was the ballast. They're working on it now, so I don't have any results to report yet. Will get back with an update
