I just did a quick search for Lexus dealerships and LS460's...and my first hit had their LOWEST 2007 LS460 (swb) at $49,999. Compare that to the wholesale #'s I posted...and you can see just how much they're making...

ps...sorry to the Moderators for taking this off subject/430's.

LOL The successful/affluent 50+ year old married males that I know are certainly going to haggle. Being smart with their money is generally how they came to be able to live in an affluent area -- not by needlessly pissing away their money.

+1 to this. The rich are rich because they're smart and good with money, not because they're stupid and throw money out the window. Don't confuse the rich that earned their money with the rich that were given money (i.e. movie stars, radio stars, etc. that can't wait to get a big entourage).

The true dealership that wants to make money actually wants to be somewhere just above the hood, because I think that people who are just on the cusp of making it out, are more willing to spend for some reason than those that have the money. I have two hoodie buddies, dumb guys that I've told over and over again that they have to negotiate and deal because they can. NOPE, one guys always buys MSRP because he thinks he's buying from Saturn or Scion or something. The other guy bought a car MSRP, second car negotiated somewhat and got a better deal.

For all the car savvy people that are on this forum, there are just as many, if not many many more than us, who are still totally car unsavvy. They step into a dealership with no idea how much anything is, do some little negotiating, dealer says "can't do it..." and they fold their cards and buy the car.

^^ It's unfortunate, but kind of like the guys who don't understand that a 280% interest Payday Loan is a really bad idea. Schools need to teach more marketing and economics as core curriculum subjects to help prevent people from being suckered so often.

In a way I think its good for us that there are lots of folks that will pay close to or full list for stuff. It allows us to get a better deal when we do a transaction where we put in the work and effort required to educate ourselves and negotiate from a position of relative power. I had a dealer tell me that he did not mind customers like me as long as all his customers were not like me.
