Default Tire chains on my LS430

Finally, after another deep snow fall in Washington DC I decided to put 2 tire chains from THULE (Sweden) on rear tires of my 06 LS 430.
It was amazing! The car had absolutely no problem going anywhere, even uphill ...
with traction control OFF .
However, on the dry road I experienced loud vibrations and noise.
Basically, tire chains for snow only and they do a great job.
There were some small confusions during installation but I figured it out fast, took me 10 minutes to put them on and 3 minutes to take them off.
Strongly recommend for snow emergency

Yours,
IL.

They are really good on snow and I would have it in my truck if I ever drove my LS in snow. But make sure you get them off when the road is dry. Cop can give you a ticket for that.

Ouch! Poor wheels. I recommend moving south first chance you get.
Oh... wait -- sorry, we're full.

I never tried that, looks like it's bad for rims.

this has got to be the funniest titled thread I've seen in a long time! I'm sickened to see tire chains on an LS430. I'd rather use sick days or vacation time before putting that on my car.

Alternatives are...
- Buy an extra set of wheels and SNOW tires and swap them out when winter starts to come in.
- Buy a cheap beater car with awd or fwd (Jeep, honda, etc..)
- Take public transportation or taxi on bad snow days

How about move South at first opportunity? I don't understand how people do it year after year. I grew up in Chicago and got out of there as soon as I could. Love the city but hate the winter. I hate living in that cold snowy weather (although I love to ski). In my view snow is great for playing, for skiing and sledding, but terrible for everyday living, for driving and commuting - forget it - move South. I also hate to see what happens to your poor car from driving in the winter - salt, rust, potholes, cold extremes, - yuch.

Oh wait never mind, like I6turbo already said - we are full down here : )

I've been told by two dealers NEVER to put chains on--something about the distance from the tire to the wheel well??? Got stuck in Reno for three days one time that way...OK, it could have been worse!
