I thought 2lucky said the 2 UL's for sale were from an individual. As we all know the cars are now 6-7 years old and this is a a down economy (recession just starting to hit in Texas) and people are losing their jobs. So if I was in financial distress and needed to get quick cash or get from under a loan I would price my car to sell quickly also. The KBB value for private seller is 22.5k to 25K. So those sale values are with range especially for a distressed seller.

Default Ultra luxury...

2lucky, was this a joke? We're all pretty in tune with the pricing of our cars... this sounds like a post from 2good2Btrue.
yeah, some of this is Lexus' fault for calling the trim "Ultra Luxury" because many sellers are describing their cars as "fully loaded" and "ultra luxury" or "top of the line" when they were mostly Modern Luxury trim.

I could say my RX300 is a "super handling AWD" vehicle....

those values you just posted as kbb again are not UL prices though homie

i just looked up my UL last week and it was like 28 or 29k for private sale at 57k miles 05 UL.

Sorry if those numbers offended you but when I ran the 04 UL on the KBB site that's the ranges I got for private sale/trade in (versus retail). It will be higher for a 05UL. In the long run none of the price estimations really matter when you are trying to sell in a down economy. It's like having a house thats appraises at 1.9 million but you can't sell for even half that amount. You can only get what a willing buyer will pay you. I suggest that 2lucky buy the car that feels right when he drives it and it passes a good lexus wise mechanics inspection.

they don't offend me they just seem off. so i just re-ran the kbb and for my zip 21403 an 05UL with 57k miles in excellent condition says private party value is $28,600. I am not sure about your zip and if a year makes that much difference but i guess this is just what i was envisioning when the OP was talking about getting a UL for a lot less... just seems to good to be true.

so for my zip i came up with the following:

#1) $22,500, 49k mi. same condition as mine same zip and same options kbb says $26,600

#2) $19,000, 85k mi. same condition as mine same zip and same options kbb says $22,425

kinda depressing how fast they have been depreciating lately. but if clean i would still go with the first one and it seems like it is priced about 4k below kbb for my query at least so yeah sounds like an awesome deal.

btw what color ext and int were the 2 choices? that would decide it for me more than the mileage

Chances are that the lower mileage car is going to be lot nicer inside out. With more miles paint keeps getting worse. In addition to that; Considering lower miles, less mechanical wear and tear, 90K service issue, and resle the choice is clear. Go for the lower mileage one. Premium is not significant.

For the nonbelievers, the UL was on Autotrader when I left to pick it up yesterday, it's since been removed. The listed price was $24,950.
This car was still under the CPO warranty, and had been serviced by the dealer every 5k mi., with all recommended services.
I flew to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to pick it up - contingent on my inspection.
Got home at 2:30 this morning and I couldn't be happier. This UL truly exceeded my expectations. I've only found 1 small paint chip on the whole car and not a single ding.

I'm not new to the LS family...I purchased a 2001 UL, brand new for full MSRP PLUS dealer inventory tax! Took an enormous depreciation hit when I sold it in 2007 to buy a CPO 2006 LS. Sold the '06 last summer out of economic concerns *PANIC*.
I'd previously had an LS400 as well.
I can assure you I have a UL (door window shades, stereo, seat temp. and other controls on the rear arm rest, frig.).

I'm considering a clear bra, since the front appears so clean. Any thoughts?
Does anyone have any suggestions for cleaning any salt residue from the underside?
I intend to clay and Zaino the paint.

Thanks again for all the input!

Absolutely, but I'd really like to do some detailing first.

I'd intended to get on it today but here's what happened:
1) seller insisted on taking license plates
2) I went to DMV to get plates, they said I had to get TX inspection sticker first
3) inspection guy wouldn't give me sticker because for some reason the insurance cert. Geico e-mailed me, indicated my insurance starts tomorrow! I had the title showing I'd just bought it yesterday. The inspection guy didn't care that I offered to let him call Geico
