Stereo has no sound?
I am going blind reading through threads so here goes the question ...
The Sub in the ML system was weak when we bought this 2004 LS 430 in 2005. Very little, if any, bass volume coming out of the sub. I thought this was lame considering what the ML system cost?
Now the radio/CD player will not play at all .... no sound.
Someone told me that the Sub has gone out? They said if the Sub goes out, the stereo/cd player will not play.
Could this be the problem and if so how can I be sure?
Last, is there a way to bypass the Sub, take it out of the loop, so that I can be certain that is the reason the stereo does not play any sound before I buy a replacement Sub?
I appreciate any help I can get!
Thanks,
-Larry

Likely the amp but check the appropriate fuses first.

JimmyTran the navigation sound still works.
The fuse is O.K.
This is the wife's car so I am rarely in it.
When I turn the accessories on or start the car there is a small pop or electrical sound through the speaker sytem. Not loud, just can hear the power to the radio sound system.
How can I find a diagram to get to the amp location and what all do I need to tear apart to get to the sub to unplug it?
I see the thread on "here comes the boom". Do I need to read all of that to find the procedure for the Sub?
Sounds like the Sub and Amp are an ongoing problem. It woudl be nice to have a thread on the basics for that!
Thanks,
-Larry

i just recently went through this in my 2001. the easiest way to check the amp is to push the audio button and check for the ASL and ability to change bass, treble, fader, etc. if you cant the amp has died. its in the trunk on the right side. electronics master in Duluth GA has the amp for $450 shipped. can be changed in 30min.

Thanks, that is some very useful information.
I will try that and let you know.
I checked all of the fuses that in some way affect the radio system and all were good.
Unfortunately, I dropped the one on the passenger side that you have to be 2 feet tall to get under there to install. It popped out and went right down the crack between the firewall and the side panel. Auto parts store here I come!
WOW! is $450the lowest price Amp available? Are there any options?
Thanks,
-Larry

O.K., I pushed the audio button.
The ASL displays.
I can adjust the Bass and Treble up and down, and Fader (right, left, forward and rear).
So I guess that means the Amp is not the problem?
How can I check to see if the Sub Woofer is the problem?
Can the Sub be unplugged to bypass it and then see if the radio will play?
Thanks,
-Larry

yeah, $450 is probably the lowest you'll find for a amp with any kind of guarantee. dealer is about $800/exchange. brand new is $1600. sub shouldn't cause the sound to just stop. does the AM/FM work at all? or just cassette/cd doesn't work?
the ASL bars wont show until you're actually driving. if the amp is a problem the ASL wont even show up. no "ASL" word on the screen. and i believe just the mid adjustment goes away. also no balance/fader options.
it more than likely wont sound like another make/models system. different design, size of car, etc. what is wrong with the audio sound?

The sound for the navigation system works.
The ASL displays.
I can adjust the Bass and Treble up and down, and Fader (right, left, forward and rear).
There is no sound at all for AM, FM, or CD player.
Again, all the fuses are good.
Thanks for any advice.
