Steering Wheel losing position memory
It started two days ago. When I get in and start my 04 LS each morning, the steering wheel stays in the UP position.
Everything else adjusts automatically. I have to put it in the right position with the adjusting switch, and then set it in memory. It works right all day, but then, when I start the car the next day, the wheel stays up again.
Anybody else experience this ? I'm glad I can at least adjust it with the switch on the column, or I'd be steering this thing like a bus driver. Of course, this all started happening while I'm out here in Oklahoma City. I can only imagine the cost of this fix.

I had my dealer disable the automatic steering wheel retraction. I don't need it and I'm the only driver. They made the change at no charge when I had the car in for other service.

Well, tonight my battery was dead - only enough juice to open the driver's door with the key fob button. Hitting the button again didn't even open the other doors.
Called AAA and when the guy got there I was telling him about the steering wheel thing that's been happening every day. He said it could be a bad cell in the battery. I told him I wanted the battery replaced anyway, as I was traveling, and don't want to deal with the old battery anymore. He took it out and checked it, and the hand-held tester showed "Bad cell".
So now, I'll see what happens with the steering wheel thing tomorrow when I start it.
Now that I think of it, sometimes both my mirrors don't go out. I wonder if that might be better now. I'll post if things improve or not with the new battery.

Dead or nearly dead battery can produce pretty weird symptoms in modern day cars. Back in the day it just cranked slow a couple of times and then next time you got that fast clicking sound of the starter not engaging and you were done. No computers rebooting, no sensors throwing 14 different codes - car just would not start.
