Picking Nits
As great as my LS430 is, there are some little things that bug me. (What good would a forum be without whiny complaints?)
- Steering wheel size: move over Ralph Kramden. I know the LS430 is a fairly large and portly car, but it's not a bus. Is this another lets-do-it-because-Mercedes-does-it thing?
- Interior lighting: I open the door and, and, and, at last the stage lights slowly come up. Enough of the drama, Lexus. Theater lighting for dimming is one thing. Blackness when you open the door is another.
- Opening compartments: Speaking of drama, waiting for the sunglass compartment to slooowly open is like waiting for Godot. The sun is blinding, I want my sunglasses NOW.
- Instrument cluster display size: If the LS430 was priced and sized to be bought by us old farts, why are the odometer, cruise control display, etc. on the instrument cluster so small? The display above the nav unit is fine. But, I may need bifocal sunglasses to see what speed I just set my cruise control on.
Enough whining for today...

I noticed the interior lighting and sunglass compartment nuances. "Waiting for Godot" LOL
Hadn't consciously noticed the other things except the speedometer (esspecially small since the inner ring KM/H is what I'm using now)
I suppose nothing is ever perfect

the only thing i have a small qualm about is the fact that my oakley's barely fit in there. i guess its different since i dont have smart key but when i press the unlock button the lights are already on before i even get to the door.
want to know what speed you set your cruise? take a look at the speedometer maybe.. lol

LOVE IT!!! Greg---wait until it rains. You may hate MORE. That said, let me chime in about the lousy WIPER ARM and BLADE DESIGNS! (Last week I changed the blades and when the wipers turned on, the passenger side blade's spline/frame was HITTING the upper edge of the hood!!!!!!!!!!!) WHAT A JOKE. I must have bent the passenger's side wiper arm about .000005 mm.
Well, I know so many of you were worried about me, but I was able to bend the arm and blade's spline back down -.000005mm. Now it wipes like a dream w/o hitting the edge of the hood.
Wipes I said.............

What brand of blades did you install? With the factory blades there is 10-mm clearance between the passenger arm and the hood on the LS430. Several modern vehicles use blade/arm combos that barely clear the hood these days, so some aftermarket blades won't fit, but several aftermarket blades will fit the LS430.

How about the bottomless pit door grab-handles? The 1st day my best friend took a ride with me, he put his phone in there and sat there like a dumbfounded idiot when his cellphone bounced all the way down to the bottom of the door!!! He turned to me with this stupid look and I just busted up laughing.

How about the need to CLOSE the tilt up feature on the sunroof before you're allowed to SLIDE it OPEN ?
On my beloved RL, if the sunroof was in the TILT UP position, you could simply press the OPEN button (one time), and the sunroof would TILT CLOSED, and then SLIDE OPEN.

How about the wiper blades can not physically be lifted up and away from the windsheld? That's only another NIT to pick for the northern owners (who experience snow)!..or to the clean windshield freaks who prefer NOTHING touching the glass as it's being cleaned???
