Default removing the beverage cooler

Anyone removed the beverage cooler? I don't see how it's mounted on the back or front.

You have to remove the trim around the gear shift first including the ashtray etc.

The order I recall is:
chrome trim ring around the gear patter selector.
the vertical trim housing your ECT switch etc.
then the horizontal trim including the ashtray

go slow and careful with soft tools to avoid scratches and be prepared to disconnect the wiring connectors as you pop these trim pieces off. Not a big job but kind of scary the first time when you consider the prices of the parts you are prying on.

Once you have that open you'll see the spring mechanism and if I recall correctly 4 screws that hold it down.

If there's a beverage cooler in the front seat, I need to go find it and stock it RIGHT NOW before we leave to go visit my in-laws for Easter. Oh boy, I hope the front beverage cooler wasn't a UL-only feature.

Doesn't the rear AC unit cycle through the cooler?

Yes. It is part of the rear A/C. The box has a sliding vent/door (not a real good seal) to allow A/C air to flow into it.

The audiophile in me cares more about hearing my newly installed sub than carrying around slightly chilled soda.

The frequencies of a sub don't really need a direct line-of-sight. Aren't they like 20-100hz?

The LS trunk is TOO well sealed to hear the sub, regardless of low frequency wave travel. Once I start driving, I can barely tell it's there. It looks like ALOT of work to remove the cooler and I don't want to mess with the rear AC, so I'm about to throw in the towel and put the stock sub back in.
