Driving without smart key?

I always thought that if you drove off without the smart key the car would shut down at a certain distance but apparently that is not the case. I guess that it will drive fine without the smart key but you better not shut it off... thoughts?

No, once she's started up, she keeps going until you turn her off, then she won't start again. I guess it's a "safety concern" to not just cut out if you go beyond a certain range. What if you're driving away say from home and you're on a major freeway, you surely don't want to cut out half way up merging into the road.

Help - I have another problem with Smart Keys - after a family gathering this weekend where I loaned out my LS430 to others, we have lost two smart keys (my only two smart keys). I am down to my valet key. Any ideas on how to replace these inexpensively?? THANKS!
