Default Blown speaker/speakers with the ML system.

I have the ML sound system in the car and I am pretty sure I blew at least one of my system speakers maybe more. I had my I pod connected through a cassette adapter and inadvertently had the I pod volume and the car volume turned up very high. When I started the car and the stereo started it just about blew me out of it. I now have the tell tail garbled sound coming from somewhere.
Do you guys have any suggestions as to the most likely speaker or speakers I may have blown?
I did a search and noticed several of you don’t like the ML system speakers. After I identify the problem units what would you recommend as a replacement if I don’t go with the factory MLs.
Thanks-Bill

Try changing the balance so you get most of the sound out of each speaker one at a time. Should be able to tell that way.

Probably rear sub-woofer if it is really garbled. Go to your Audio button and check out each speaker.

i blew my front right door speaker the same way. cost of a replacement speaker was 185 at the dealership and the diy install is fairly simple but you have to take off your door panels. all you need is a phillips screw driver and about 15 minutes.

You may be able to fix the speaker with a "re-foam" kit -- $15-$20 + bottle of good glue. Google speaker repair foam
Or, electronics repair place may refer you to somone who can do it for you for under $50 if u pull speaker out.

If you use the balance like jayclapp suggested is might give a more localized location of the problem. Even kneeling and listening to each door speaker then the rear sub on moderte volume should let you know which one(s) has an issue. Hope it works out
