Default Just picked up my first LS!

Just got a 06 lexus ls430 with sport suspension option, mark levinson, navi, all the good stuff .. for about 25k with tax and registration. What do you guys think? I heard the sport suspension is a draw back compared to the normal, is this true?

Welcome! The sport suspension is a matter of taste. Some like the firmer ride. How many miles? Pics?

Sports suspension was a relatively low cost high value option that gets you a more robust suspension and 18 inch wheels instead of stock 17s - and a slightly firmer ride. As previously said its really a matter of taste, lots of folks want the smooth silky ride of stock, others prefer a more "European" ride and handling. I tested a sport suspension car but did not like the harshness it produced in normal everyday driving and preferred stock but that just my own personal taste. I could see folks going either way.

I think it's the custom luxury. It's a flint mica color, light grey interior (preferred black).

I think $25K for 58K out the door is a good deal for a Modern Luxury trim or higher. The LS price fall hit a peak about a year ago. They are not falling at the rate they were and I think actually have frozen for a year now.

As for sport suspension, I think I only drove one during my search and I really did not get that big of a sampling really or tested it enough to get a feel of how much different it was. Anyway, I got a CL with stock suspension and I've never thought it was inferior in any way. Floaty like a butterfly... the way I like it...

A couple of points:

- Sport suspension cars have a small badge behind the front wheelwells. Many sellers list "sport suspension" just because the car has optional 18" wheels. No badge = no sport suspension.

- Light gray was not offered on the Custom Luxury level. Gray was only on Premium and Modern Luxury. If you have nav and ML with a gray interior, you have a Modern Luxury.

- Also, sport suspension (in 04-06) was only offered on Premium and Modern Luxury levels. Custom Luxury only had the standard suspension. Ultra Luxury had the air suspension.

Enjoy your car. Flint Mica is the best color IMHO.

Thanks, I think that was exactly why I joined this fourm. I honestly don't know much about this car except for it's renowned reliability. Just out of curiosity, how do the packages rank and how do they differ? I know UL is the highest. Is Premium and Modern luxury levels lower than the CL package? What are the difference amongst the three?

Thanks for the feedback guy, I'm really excited about my new car and being able to speak to great people in this community!

Do a search, this questions has been asked and answered various time... but in a nutshell:

Ultra
Custom
Modern
Premium
Base

basically, Premium adds heated/cooled front seats, heated rear over the base. Modern further adds NAV and ML. Custom further adds power door closers, headlamp washers, suede headliners (and more), and Ultra is just ultra. And of course in Custom and Ultra, there is further the additional option of Pre-Collision System (PCS).

Happy reading....
