Unhappy 10/1/10 Update

Would you believe I still don't have my car back from the dealer? They ordered the ECU and another unidentified part and had those installed on Wed. morning (9/29/10) but have now spent the last three days (over 20 mechanic hours according to my service advisor) trying to re-calibrate within the 1% tolerance allowed by Lexus. They can get it down to 1.4% but then the diagnostic machine requires them to re-boot and start over. This requires them to disconnect the battery and let the car sit for a few hours. Has anyone ever heard of this before?

I'm not seeing any light at the end of the tunnel and will now be without my car over the weekend as well. I did get a GS 350 as a loaner but I'm sorry, it can't hold a candle to the LS.

Ok, rant over. I apologize, I'm just frustrated.

somebody wrote a very very technical write up on how to actually reset it and re-calibrate it on a similar thread a few months back. it was like physics/ calculus to me but it seemed like something that somebody could do on there own with a few hours of free time and a math degree

Smile 10/6/10 Update

Just got the call that my car is ready! The problem was a bad ECU AND a bad sensor. So the reason they couldn't calibrate correctly was that the sensor was bad. Can't believe there wasn't a way to determine this a week ago but there it is. Supposedly the parts they ordered cost a total of $6,000 and they spent over 30 hours of labor. Ouch! Glad I have the CPO warranty!

I dont know how much longer the CPO program for Lexus can go on as it is today. To me Lexus offers the best Pre-Owned product bar none but, its getting costly. Im pro consumer, don't get me wrong but, when you factor in the cost of the LS460's issues recently and the CPO issues that happen normally, how long can this product go on as 3 years or 100,000 miles whichever comes 1st!
