Thanks man.

Yeah, I'm just concerned about the AC system. I just want to make sure that it either need to be re-charged or a line is broken.

If it's leaking out of the condenser or ac compressor is bad itself..that could be expensive.

Yes, A/C repair is expensive in any car these days, and the Lexus is just that much more. Unfortunately, something to consider with your low mileage car, is the lack of use, rather than excessive use. All cars need to be driven. Seals and rubber can dry up. An extensive inspection will help, and just wish for the best with the A/C. If concerned, pay extra to have them check the A/C out thoroughly. Good luck.

The only things I noticed when driving were that the AC didn't blow quite ICE cold when on recirculate.......

Thanks for any advice,

With the low mileage and being 9 years old the A/C may have never been serviced and I would think is would be quite normal for the freon to be low. Just last week my A/C seemed to not deliver the normal cold air. Dealer topped up the freon and back to artic cold right away.

Sorry for the delay. The first credit union turned us down on the financing..the AC is fixed and I'm going to give it another shot tomorrow with her and I both on the loan...my girls Mother may go on the loan with her so I figured wait til tomorrow to find that out as she'll probably get a better rate.

Did they change from the interference engine in later years?
What would be a ballpark repair cost if the worst happened ...8k?

The interference engine has been discussed in detail on this forum. Major damage can result if the belt fails. The worst case scenario is "abandon ship". Best be safe, although these belts have been known to last longer than 90,000 miles.

In an interference engine the timing belt is critical item. It moves the valves out of the way as the piston comes up to the top of the combustion chamber. If the belt breaks the pistons may impact the open valve stems and result in broken valves and/or broken pistons.

So a broken timing belt can totally trash the top end of your engine in a couple of seconds. Repair bill can easily be $6-8k or more depending on extent of damage.

Buy it.

I bought a 2001 30,000 miles ago with 97K on it. They are well built.
