Default My, what big cupholders you've got...

Just picked up my LS430 a couple of weeks ago. Tremendous car - but one thing I've been struggling with is those MASSIVE cup holders up front... All of my coffee cups - which fit great in every other car I own - are simply lost at sea in the vast, cavernous space of those front cup holders. Every time I stick a cup in there, I worry that it'll fly out under even the lightest of braking or the gentlest of cornering.

So - to business. Can anyone recommend a decent coffee cup that actually fits snugly in our cup holders?

I found that very same problem when I first got the car. It's too big for almost any water bottle or cup.

One problem is that the cupholders feel so weak that a large cup that fits them would seem to be too heavy for then to safely hold. My solution it to ban drinking in the car. When we pick up Dairy Queen or my wife brings home a cup of pop from a restaurant, they go into a plastic bucket I keep on the floor in the back seat.

Cup holders would need to be significantly improved just to be crappy.

Jeez what are you guys drinking out of? Shot glasses? The cupholders seem fit just about every cup i put in it just right and is also slightly adjustable. On the other hand i believe they do make some little foam insulators of some sort that can take up some the space left over after your set your extra small dixie cups in place.

If Lexus had just sunk two simple holes in the console and put a sliding lid on it, the cup-holders would have been great. But no, they got to be slick... it has to be some semi automated Batmobile funk-a-matic contraption that slides up out of nowhere, looks super cool, and is functionally completely useless, like a screen door on a submarine... Arrrgghh, my 07 bore-azz Toyota Highlander has way better cup-holders in it than my $60K LS

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. That drink docker looks like it would work, I think I'll give that a try, but I'll also keep looking for a bigger cup in the meantime. If I find one I'll report back. I agree with you guys that they over-thought these cup holders - they're all form and no function!

I think the bottom line is that if the cup is too tall it inevitably will tip over from it's own weight.

I coudnt get mine to stay down so now i have a small unnoticeable clip holding it in place... I usually flip the rear rest down and place my drinks in there... at least the 430's have a back uP..

You can get Lexus cups at the dealer that fit very well I believe. Lexus logo, sliding lid, just the right size
