Bits and Pieces
Hey all,
Still abuzz with picking up the GF's 430 two weeks ago. But I noticed the car is missing beau coup fasteners, front and back. In the engine bay it's the big flat-head screws that hold the multiple engine/component covers down. In the cabin it's a couple of those dang floor mat hangers. And out back in the trunk, it's screws that hold down the covers to the computers(?) and DVD unit.
My question is this: does anyone know where a schematic or exploded parts list exists for a 2006 LS430? And maybe a few suggestions on where to order these little buggers cheaply.
Now to our regularly scheduled rant: And what is it with mechanics? They take these bolts/fasteners out to remove covers and then are too lazy to replace them when they sew things up?
Kind of irritating for an otherwise mint car. Seems to me there should be an attendant level of respect for a car this nice. I mean, if I'd caught the dealer forgetting this stuff when they did it I'd be pretty irritated.
Oh, well ... and the uniform decline of standards accelerates a few more MPH. Sigh.
Any help guys re: the questions above will be mucho appreciated.

I bought my car from a BMW dealer and it needed its 30K service. I had it done at Lexus of Lansing and asked them to replace a few missing fasteners like you have. They did this at no charge.

I hate those fasteners. I am very careful when I work on cars but they tend to just pop out and up and disappear into some fastener black hole in the engine bay. I lost 3 or 4 of them the first time I ever removed all the covers, looked with flashlight, underneath, etc -nothing - just disappeared. I ended up going to Lexus dealer and buying 5-6 to have a couple of spares. I think they charged me $2 each for the fasteners. Dealer should be wearing a mask and holding a pistol to charge $2 for a plastic 40 cent fastener - oh well.

i went to NAPA or AutoZone for some of these plastic parts. I was missing about 2 or 3. They sell lots of different sizes and styles, so bring in an example of the kinds you need. A box of 6 was around $2.00 i think...
