Default sooooo i went up to the dealer...

I had a blank Denso key that came with my car..
So all i needed was to have it traced, which is 1min job

Toyota will not cut it.
Lexus will not cut it because it wasn't purchaced from their location.
Lexus dealer wanted about $100 to have their hollow key traced.

Have anyone had to deal with this before??

my dealer will cut a key with proof of ownership for free, no matter where i buy my keys. I've done it 3 times now, RX300 ES300 RX400h with keys bought off ebay.

There are cut keys on ebay. I bought a set of two cut keys and just transferred my old guts into the new key.

$40 shipped for both.

Just make sure you buy the ones that are already cut to your key code.

Check this out..

I called up AAA to see if they would make the key for me.
They said that its covered and they will do it.
Then they called me back and said that their locksmith dont have equipment to cut lexus keys.
Then they told me that they will cover the dealers cost... BUT...
I HAVE to let them tow my car to the dealer to have that done.
YES, HAVE to. Even tho I still have a key and able to drive the LS.

Lexus dealer cut my key after I brought in the registration slip and they verified it with my drivers license. $15 and it was done in about a minute. If you don't present any identifiable links to the car, they will turn you away.

Roman - tell them fine they can tow it but the car is currently located at the Lexus dealer parking lot - so they can tow it 100 feet or so : ) - it would be fun to see what they say...

a local locksmith cut the keys on my old GS for around $15.

maybe less hassle than to have you car towed around.

That sucks! Unfortunately, their stance screws you. Any other local Lexus dealers?

thats the only dealer that can cut a key within 80 miles. and every toyota dealer that i called cant cut it, also every toyota dealer that i talked to told me that that lexus has one of the worst customer service reps in the state and everyone avoids it.
