Greetings and questions on a 2000 LS430
Hello I have a newbie question, as a new owner of a 2000 LS430 how can I tell if the car is equipped with the smart key system?? The only key I have now is a black one wit the key hidden in the key fob. Now the trick part is I need to press the fob every time to get it lock/unlock and I do see those 4 little black rubber button on the door handles. Much appreciated with your experience in this matter. I will upload pictures later on this week once I get it all cleaned up. Cheers

Welcome to Clublexus!
Seems as if your LS430 is equipped with the smart key.
You need to enable it by pressing the ON switch for the smart key system which can be found above the drivers right knee (somewhat hidden.) Give that a try before we get any further diagnosing the system.
FYI: In the US, smart access was not available till 2004.

Thank you Grand_LS for the valuable info. I guess the Asia market offered LS430 since 2000 and it came out with smart key system at the time already. Now the question is where can I purchase blank master keys?? Originalkeyless or something after digging thru the threads there? Many thanks
Can you post the FCC ID printed on your key (or its equivalent) and we'll try and match it up for you.
