Yesterday, I discovered that if the radio is turned off, I can hit the "Mode" button on the left side of the steering wheel to turn on the radio.

How long have you had your car? ha ha.... I think I found that function out accidentally the first or second week I had my car.

You may have found out already, but in CD mode, the up and down button there control don't just control the track up and down if you hit it once. If you press and hold the buttons, it switches the CDs too.

Personally, my favorite...

<hit command button> then say "68 degrees" and the temp is then set to 68 degrees.

In the SC430 and most latest generation Lexus, holding the mode button for a few seconds turns off the stereo too. The LS430 don't do it though.

Another thoughtful feature for Toyota cars I guess.

In contrast, a Porsche Cayanne Turbo turns on the audio EVERY TIME you turn on the igntion, regardless of what state it was in when you turned it off.
It's pretty annoying as this is the only time you really want the car to be quiet, so you can assess the initial state of the car, check your lamps, check surroundings before you back up and drive off.

Can you also turn it off via a voice command on NAV equipped 430's? I think I can on my 08 GX470...
