.... If the side windows are completely up (ie. as tight as they will go) they make slightly more wind noise than if I release them just a little. I do this by pushing the window switch just enough to relax the window in its seal, but not enough to open it. It's only a slight difference and it's hard to tell especially under noisy pavement or very windy conditions. Seems like its more noticeable on the front and rear drivers side windows but that may be just because I'm closer to them. Curious to know if anyone else has noticed this, and if so why does it occur?
.... ahhhhh hem, Chris, that is my theory - which is mine ( borrowed from Monte Python )
Some rubber conditioner may fix it - or some sort of extra (thin) soft rubber strip attached to the old one is what I'll try, unless someone knows a better solution

There is probably no solution to old age rubber. Left exposed to the sun continually to the ambient cliamate and SUV exposure, there can be little doubt but what that the rubber will deteriorate. This means the rubber will become hardened and less able to form a seal to prevent wind noise. If the car is garaged and/or covered during exposure to the daylight sun and environment, little can be done to prevent eventual deterioration.
My car has always been garaged and the rubber and interior is in excellent shape, near original condition. I had a 1992 SC400 which I convered with a car cover while at work every day that it was possible. That kept the car in excellent condition for 20 years.
There is no such thing as a car that is designed and produced to remain in perfect condition forever!

Lexus engineers were outsmarted again, with a more cost effective solution! I use clear packaging tape myself to hold the car together, namely the pass side drip rail.
