Anyone else notice this? When I am in a parking lot or doing a three point turn I notice a sound coming from my sterring wheel. It sounds almost like ball bearings that need grease. I took it in the other day but they said they didn't notice anything. I am taking it back later today and will drive with them. (they actually suggested that in their notes too) just curious if my theory is correct and anyone else had noticed this....
I might have the same things you're describing. It is a very faint squeaking (but not really like a squeak from a trim piece, metallic almost) when turning the wheel while going over bumps. I only notice it at lower speeds (ie getting out of the driveway, turning inside parking structures). I have rolled the windows down (as I thought it was a worn suspension component) but have not heard anything. This noise is pretty minor so I have not bothered to solve it. Is this sort of like what you're experiencing?
It's not too noticeable and probably would'nt be at all in a normal car. The LS is so quiet that these little sounds become audible. I will ask the dealer at my 30k mile service.
I never got over to North Park the other day. If I can today I will. Thnaks Jim for the direction on the clock spring. I will specifically ask about that. btw... Although I live in San Antonio I grew up in Sturbridge.

Doesnt sound like a clockspring problem to me. Lexus calls it spiral cable actually ....that is what the shop foreman told me. Problems with the spiral cable come with a "rapid clicking" sound while turning the wheel

^that is a different sound from mine so I guess we are facing different issues. I really can't describe my sound, maybe I'll shoot a video when I'm bored enough.
If it is the spiral cable problem...........it might cost you. I just had some work done on my steering rack and they left me with some noises that i have to go back and adress. Ill as about spiral cables
