Hi All -
Was out for a drive this fine Saturday morning here in So Cal (prior to bigscreen football) w/ the sunroof opened and about 75* outside. Turned a corner and the sun hit my NAV screen and it looked like a CSI dream w/ fingerprints up the ying yang.
This got me thinking - How do you properly and safely clean your NAV screen and the smaller digital readout screen above it? Also, is the speedo/guage screen made out of essentually the same materials (one's solid while the touch screen gives) whereby you can you use the same cleaning method on both?
Did a search and came up w/ the following from back in '05 of which the general consensus is to use LCD wipes but was wondering if there's anything any better?

TIA for any advice -

a clean soft cloth will probably do. Use a bit of hand sanitizer if you want to rid the screen of an dirty particles. Other than being gentle with the cleaning process I really don't think it's much different than wiping down the interior of your car.

And folks thought BMW was crazy for their I-Drive system where you make you screen selections by pressing the I-Drive **** rather than the screen. I have both and the I-Drive is better (IMHO) although it does take some getting used to.

LCD screen wipes should be fine - I would avoid using anything with either ammonia or alcohol in to.

The owners manual describes cleaning of the, "Air conditioning Control Panel, Car Audio, Instument Panel, console Panel, and Switches" as follows:
"Do not use organic substances (solvents, kerosene,
alcohol, gasoline, etc.) or alkaline or acidic solutions.
These chemicals can cause discoloring, staining or
peeling of the surface.
If you use cleaners or polishing agents, make sure
their ingredients do not include the substances
mentioned above."
I didn't find anything specifically for the Nav screen, but I treat it as a computer monitor screen.

Pledge works outstanding. Prevents finger prints and is lemony fresh ![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Make sure the towel you use is clean to avoid adding scratches.

I always use a non-amonia, non-alcohol based glass cleaner from windex. These seem to work great. You can also use all purpose cleaner from simple green with no amonia or alcohol. Make sure you use a clean towel/rag that is smooth rather than the microfiber ones. I know microfiber cloth is very nice and cleans just about anything but they also leave streaks around the edges where you wipe from what I've experienced.

There is a video tutorial for the LS430 nav system on the mylexus site. It recommends you clean it as a computer screen. The tutorial on the nav system is worth checking out if you haven't seen it. Just found it this morning.

I went to Amazon and found the Novus PC-108 when I searched for Brillianize. I wanted to make sure this is the product you recommend and wondered what type of cloth or applicator you use. Thanks.

Yes, it is the correct product that you found. It comes in an old school style spray pump. I use any nice clean and plush microfiber. For the cluster (gauges) I use the novus #2 ( That's the only one I have) and follow up with the brillianize. works very well....
