Seat comfort

I totally agree. The front seats on my LS are the worst I've ever had. I've the got the cooled seats which I'm beginning to believe are the culprit.
In fact, the seats are so bad, I am selling the car!!!

when Idrove like a dozen LS's I noticed the seats settle and feel kinds sunker in the middle and yes the leather does stretch. These where all cars with 50 k or more. First thing I did was have an upholsterer depad the center of the seat erring on the side of firmness and I never have back fatigue at all. He also took up some of the leather so it is flat no gathering. I think my driver passenger seat, hardly used is fine. Sat in a 05 RL and liked the seats better than the LS.

I love the seat, it's like riding around on a giant sofa. Not too soft and not too firm. Also fits me pretty well (6 ft 200 lbs). Maybe that is an indication I need to start exercising...
I recently had the privledge of testing out an 06 Merc S500 and I must say that car was exceptional. Seats were a bit softer and the car does everything as well, if not better than the LS. It felt like a solid German tank, will bulldoze its way through anything you throw at it without letting you know.

Lots of difference in the perceived comfort level of the LS430 seats - sounds like everybody gots a different boo-tee.
I will look into replacing the bottom foam pad at some point as the car is 5 years old and the seat cushion is a wear item.

The Cadillac DTS has a soft ride and soft seats. The DTS Performance Edition has less wallow, but the ride wouldn't be mistaken for firm. However, it is a FWD car that is about a foot longer than a LS430 with fewer luxury features and lower build quality. It is also scheduled to be discontinued in the near future.

I've only had my '05 LS for about 6 weeks now (got it with 61k miles). It has the cooled seats. Before this, I had an '02 GS 430, and I find the LS seat to be much nicer.
The GS seats were quite comfortable and very supportive, but I always felt that the seat cushion on the GS was too short for my 6'3" frame. I LOVE the fact that I can telescope the cushion out on my LS seat, for some much welcomed thigh support. It took me a couple of weeks to get the seat set EXACTLY right, but with so many adjustments, it's hard to see how a person couldn't find a comfortable position.
The softness/firmness issue is pretty subjective, and is probably influenced most by what sort of cars you've had in the past. However, I'm in the "love it" camp, on the LS 430 seats.
