Had both valve cover gaskets replaced by Germain Lexus of Naples, $583 incl tax, would have been $900 incl tranny pan gasket (but they did that 3 months ago and screwed that up)
Have 116k on the car, thought I'd tell you guys out there with 01-03 models
Btw JM Lexus offers a lifetime warranty on all of the work they do, anybody elses dealer do that?

$829.67 to replace the valve cover gaskets and spark plugs... my valve covers are leaking at 105,000 miles.... sounds like you got a bargain!

I'm confused. Your thread title makes it sounds like you're slamming JM Lexus, but your post doesn't read that way. It also seems you're not really slamming Germain, so who's the $tealer?

What does lifetime warranty on work mean? They're not saying the part has lifetime warranty, just that the repair is warrantied right?
Everyone has stinker dealers, but I find that MOST Lexus dealers are good.

100$ to check the problematic leak
Found out:
Tranny gasket leaking-$200
1valve gasket leaking-&300
Recommended to replace other as well-$300
JM quote
Now, Germaine Lexus...
Tranny gasket-free
-$100 bc I had to go to JM to find out what Germain failed to fix
Both valve gaskets-$600 (together)
Final-$500+tax
Ended up being the trans overflow line was leaking, $10 fix.
Lextech in Naples is all certified Lexus tech's- they charge a fraction on the dealer- highly recommended

Are you sure you're talking about valve cover gaskets or valve seals? The cover gaskets are easy to replace. The ones on my old 4runner were like $20-30 each. You just remove the valve cover (need to replace those gaskets, too), pull off the cover, and replace the cover gasket. If it's the valve seals, that's a big job, as you typically have to pull the cylinder heads off and disassemble the valve train. On my LX, the dealer charged around 1.5 hrs of labor to install the 8 plugs (~$150 labor) + $64 for plugs (got 'em on discount from Toyota).

My car is dripping oil on the ground and I understood valve cover gaskets. If the valve seals were leaking, that would be a compression issue as the oil is still in the engine and would not be dripping externally.
