Default How do you remove the side mirror assembly?

I finally gave in and purchased a used side mirror assembly to replace mine that doesn't stop at the detent when folding open. Surprisingly, after searching I wasn't able to find a post describing this procedure, especially since so many of us have had a similar problem.

Could someone please shine some light on the right way to swap out the entire unit? I haven't been able to figure out how to remove the interior trim panel. Note that I am replacing the entire housing that bolts to the door, not just the mirror.

Thanks in advance!

Search for door panel removal. Its not that difficult to do. Once you get the door panel off you need to remove the trim piece that covers the mirror bolts. The trim piece goes from the front of the door up around the top to the back of the door. There are 2 push clips that hold it in place at both ends. After you get that piece off there are 3 12mm bolts that hold the mirror housing on the door itself.

SerasLibre,

Seems that I have a similar problem or will foresee the same problem in the future if I don't do anything now..

Just to confirm... so if the mirror is loose at the folding point, it cannot be adjusted and the only solution is to replace the whole mirror assembly?

Thanks

sorry for the confusion. I just figured you have power folding mirrors and it's for LS430.. mine is manual folding and the folding pivot is kinda loose
