I am not sure what "commanding a prescence" meant actually. The Ls is for sure a heavier solid feeeling car. I actualy liked the 07 G35 for a comparible car to the well rated 328 for like my wife. Both come in AWD both have big sixes.

When you pull up in an LS430, you look like you mean "business", that you've accomplished something and can afford the flagship vehicle of a luxury marque. Pull up in an Infiniti, and to most people, they just see a nice car with some gadgets (same goes for the Acura RL).

Now... Many people don't give a damn about this... and that is entirely respectable. The beauty of cars like the LS, the upcoming Hyundai Equus and the ill-fated VW Phaeton is that they manage a "commanding presence" without coming off as obnoxious, loud and attention seeking expenditures... i.e. S Class, 7 Series. It is an understated amount of luxury. However, for what these cars cost new OR used, I'd vastly prefer an LS to just... "a nice car".

Did I say Infinitis weren't good cars, or that they weren't fun to drive... perhaps much more fun to drive than a Lexus product? Absolutely not. But when it comes to the appearance, quality and fit and finish, the M simply doesn't compare to the LS430 nor was it ever intended to.

Keep in mind, the Infiniti M is frequently cross-shopped with the LS because Infiniti's last stand in the flagship luxury vehicle market was a complete flop and has yet to be replaced (Q45).

I can appreciate your points and feel some of this class and character comes from the mercedes like looks and appeal.

I guess I feel this less and less though as I see many other cars and suv's with similar technology that are pretty nice and the LS430 becomes a bit dated.

I drove the M series a few times hoping to like it better than the LS but it was more just the driving characteristics and not the lack of presence that turned me off.

Without a doubt, I will agree that Lexus far excels in the fit and finish dept over Infiniti. I have had more issues with trim, seats, steering wheel, etc on my G35 than I would care to count. I know of M35 issues as well. None with my 10 year old LS430.

I say test drive all those you may like. Don't take advice from us, see how you feel when in the drivers seat because the LS on any level isn't for everyone fellow member. The M's are nice looking cars and Im sure have there advantages and thats to be experienced. This site for the most part is LEXUS country and most will advise ultimately to get the LS. So that said, test drive the cars in question, including the LS 430 UL and see how they feel in the drivers seat. Then make your final verdict! LGNM

I am going to test drive this week. And for the ride being more sporty, i think i'd prefer that. If i get a LS i would lower it anyway. I just wanted to see what you guys thought. I have also been doing some research on the Infiniti forums to see there opinions. I do appreciate all the comments and tips.
