Performance Chip?

Performance Chip?
Has anyone installed a performance chip on their ls430?I was wondering if it really boosts HP and other aspects of the engine to justify the price. Thanks to all who reply......

Well do you have 50 dollars? Then you can afford a 'chip'...
See below...lol...yeah like DaveGS4 said there is nothing but cheap resistors in boxes.
From what I've seen ...unless a car has a turbo or supercharger I don't think there is much you can do to increase performance when it comes to performance chips.
Don't tell me an LS430 isn't fast enough for you? I usually don't say this...but if it isn't fast enough then either your driving too fast ...or...your LS430 (very badly)needs a tuneup.
Cold air intake, special exhausts, turbos...you get the picture all increase the power of a car.

...which makes you several grams lighter and could potentially boost acceleration!!! I think we just cracked it...lol.
Yeah only time chips are worthwhile are in Turbo or supercharged cars. Not much you can do to NA cars other than making it breathe better (intake, exhaust). Also doesn't help that the aftermarket market is nearly nonexsistent for the 430.

hmm- that would be pretty slick if it did. Is the GS 430 ecu tuned THAT much more agressively? I bet mpg's would suffer, but it would make the car run like a beast! Maybe it would work, but probably would cause an ECU- it would be really cool to see that though. Maybe run into some issues with the Tranny shifting though- is the 430 a 6 speed auto too?

The best thing you can do with that extra heavy cash that is bogging down your luxurious ride is to give it to charity.
I can't believe people are finding the LS430 not fast enough.
I think if you have a need for speed (especially when it comes to stop light racing) you should be looking into an M5. Boy do I wish I had the dough for an M5...and the inevitable stack of tickets and court fees that come with it
EDIT: One other cheap and very cost effective measure is to lose 30-40+lbs.
You would probably get better a mpg # and better 0-60 times. I have yet to see any girls in the LS430 sub-forum. So I hope none of us is overly sensitive about their body weight.
Hehe...I hope no one finds this offensive...it's meant as a joke...!

Won't help. The 10hp differences in the GS 3UZ' power rating are pretty commonly discussed as resulting from the intake and exhaust design. Engine and engine management is exactly the same.

If I were to lose 30-40 lbs., I could comfortably drive one of those fast cars that have skinny seats with big side bolsters - says the guy who just came back from the all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet nicknamed "City Chicken" after the pidgeons that fly around downtown.

It's hard to lose 30-40 lbs when i spend half the day in lecture and the other half in library/lab/bed. Time for me to take out those unused seats, stereo sys, misc panels ...seriously though the LS is definitely a quick car. I would even say it's somewhat of a sleeper as I have startled quite a few kids with sports cars around here
