I drive the same route to work for the past 10 years. There is a nice hill I have been able to juice my LS up to like 120-125 but it is dependent on real lite traffic for safety which I have not had lately.
Has anyone pinned er to the governor and what is the setting at? I am just curious. At 125 she is pretty darn smooth, no vibrations or wobbles.

I would need to be wearing a nice thick diaper to take my LS past 125 mph - so I am sure the ride would seem very smooth with the extra padding.

Smooth as silk, but I wouldn't do this on old or cheap tires. I've done it twice, no real need to do it again.

Thanks for the replies. As I mentioned safety is paramount so I will see when I can do this. Just up the hill is an occasional radar stand so timing is everything. Get a good start with an all clear at the top of the hill, no cops in the one crossover, no bridges, no on ramps and my detector set on high with my foot ready to hit the binders hoping for some radar scatter on a few cars ahead of me though i can pretty much tell if a cop is moving on the other side. I have new Primacies and align the car every year whether it seems to need it or not. You cover road pretty fast so i have to be slowing down on the upside of the hill.

Well in Ontario...Radar detectors are banned and if you are ever caught doing 30 mph over the limit ...you've just lost your drivers license (roadside license suspension) and your Lexus (will be towed to their impound lot)!!!

I don't think the rules are as draconian in the States.

"The Beltronics STi Driver accomplishes a rare feat: It cannot be detected by police equipment. Users and experts alike are impressed by this feature. The STi Driver is a good detector, too, according to both expert tests and consumers who own it. It detects radar from just about as far away as the top-rated Escort Passport 9500ix (*Est. $500), which isn't invisible to police"
"The only other radar detector that proves invisible in SpeedZones.com's latest test, the Escort RedLine (*Est. $500), charges $30 more than the STi Driver for similar performance."

I have the 9500ix and checked out the 2000 dollar model which has a laser shield which prevents laser from registering on the gun. What makes the STI invisible? Hidden in the grill? i do not think these untis transmit anything they just recieve. they are far from foolproof!

Ya the speed limiter is around 130, it doesnt cut the fuel off and give the car a huge cut in power. It just stays there feels like u hit a limit on areo. Kind of lame in my opinion but then again theres no need to go much faster then that in a 4k lbs sedan with under powered brakes at that speed

"Using specially designed equipment called radar detector detectors (RDDs), police take advantage of these leaked signals to detect radar detectors in areas where their use is regulated. A common misconception is that the detector's case material has an effect on the signal leak. This is not true. All detectors, even metal cased detectors, have a plastic "lense" over the antenna horn area to receive radar signals. The majority of the signal leaks through the antenna horn. A front and rear horn will then leak signals both front and rear making them even easier to be picked up by police RDDs.
The only radar detectors that are totally undetectable to police radar detector detectors are those equipped with Escort's patented TotalShield antenna technology. These are: the Passport 9500ci, the Beltronics STi, and the Beltronics STi-R. These were specifically designed by Escort to eliminate radio signal leaks making them invisible to all RDDs, period. You should still not test these models near other detectors because of the signal leaked from the other detector."

Also look out for what your tires are rated for. I haven't maxxed it yet (though I've gotten close) due to paranoia of the law enforcement. However, the stock ones (I have the Dunlop 5000 sport or w/e) are only rated for 130. I think this is the main reason why they limited the car. If your tires are rated at 130ish dint stay there too long...last thing you want at those speeds is a blowout

Well I have news for you all!
There is no such thing as an effective laser detector.
There is something called a laser jammer (legal in most states...defiantly not in communist Ontario)!
The only effective models are the 1) Laser interceptor jammers
2) Blinder laser jammers m27/m47
Radar detector net is the place to got to learn about counter measures.

MY 2003 430 speed limiter is set at 131. The main reason is tires. But not that I would ever do it but the car will do 131 without even trying hard. It will stay at 131 as long as your nerve holds up. Don't ask me how i know.
Funny thing is my other car is an es 330 and its limited at 143.
