Navigation computer from salvage yard?
It appears my navigation computer on my '04 LS 430. It's roughly 5-6K new and about $1200-1600 used. I am wondering if anyone knows of a good source for this. I can handle the $1200-1600 but don't know how reliable the part or the place that sells it is. Please help!

It keeps showing "device not connected" or something like that. But what happens is first when backing up the camera doesn't work, then the individual temperature does not display. Something like that. That's when we know it will be acting up today. The A/C cannot be controlled the radio etc. Then sometimes it just works perfect. I was told that is what it does on it's way out. So actually I am not really sure. I hope not but I just want to have an idea of the damages in case that is what it is. Maybe you know something???
Thanks

I don't know if that is the exact problem, but I'd try to eliminate it before you "waste" money trying to fix it. Try finding someone local and ask if they would be willing to let you swap out units with them.
Then if that fixes the errors, then you know it's your box.

I am having a similar problem with my 06. It started with the remote key entry not working and then the Nav started with a problem by showing the same message "not connected. The Audio and Air display were still working until this weekend. Now the Audio is not working. I can't even get my cd's ejected now. It says CD reading error and sound off. What next??? Anyone had a similar experience?

OK I got it fixed. When it starts saying it is not connected and or it starts to take a while to boot up and all the other symptoms it is the screen and not the computer in the truck. I bought one from a wrecking yard for $950, plugged it in and bam.........perfect!. I retained the faulty one and I am looking in to having it fixed. Don't know if it is a sealed unit and can even be worked on but if any one know anything let me know please I would love to recoup some of the cost.
