Default 01 LS430 UL fuel door/trunk release panel

Anyone know how to remove the panel that holds the trunk and fuel door levers? I want to get to the lights on the panel and change them out. Im in the middle of changing my interior lights to white LED's. I have all the doors and the lights in the foot wells. The last ones I want to change are these but cant figure out how to get to them.

Thanks

Ok now I really need to know how to get to those lights. Not sure why or how but they don't seem to be working anymore. Not sure if something happened when I was trying to get to them. I had reached behind the dash panel to feel around and I'm not sure if maybe I knocked a wire loose or something. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hilo, did you ever figure this out. Mine are also not working but I'll be darned if I can figure out how to pop out the panel to get to the bulb(s).

Unfortunately you have to pull that whole lower dash panel to get to the bulbs. The small panel the fuel/trunk release levers are on do not pop off from the front.

Ugh.. although I guess not a surprise. They are both connected to cables, not electronics, so that panel popping off would have been unrealistic.

Did you end up doing this and, if so, how much work was it?

Thank you for getting back to me on this.

Actually the trunk release and gas door are electric. The hood is cable operated. Removing the panel is not that hard. There are instructions online, thats how I did mine. Its not a lot of work just make sure you take your time and be careful when you pull the panel not to damage anything.

Yeah, including all foam inserts and gaskets, repair them if necessary so your LS430 stays silent. Last thing we need in a utterly silent LS430 cabin is unwanted rattles and squeaks
