IMHO,17's would be more than cushy enough. My car has 18's and it's quite pleasant, even on average inner city roads.

Justin...

In this thread, a couple of members say 16" wheels fit the 04-06 LS430 https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...in-wheels.html

I think the clearance is tight, but they work. I don't think tape-on inside wheel balance weights will work though.

And here's another thread that mentions 1995-2002 MY LS 16" wheels working on 04-06 LS https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...005-ls430.html

The '01 LS430 came standard with 16" wheels. I think the 17" didn't come in until 2004.

In the US they did. All ADM zenki 430's had 17" wheels stock.

16" was standard in 01-02 with 17" optional.
17" was standard in 03-06.
18" became optional for the first time in 04.

I just did the swap from my 1998 LS400 to my "new" 2006 LS430.

Ordered 16" OEM or OEM look alike wheels from wheelsandrims and center covers, put Michelin 225/60R15 PRMXV4 tires on and have the soft ride that I want. No problem with fit or clearance -- so far anyway. The look is somewhat diminished from the rather sharp 18" 2006 LS430 OEM wheels, but I needed the ride, not the look.

In the meantime I am selling the 18" wheels. Have not posted them on ebay yet, so contact me if you want them.

Thanks for for all of the great information in this thread. I was able to proceed with confidence.

Johnson 508, Do you have any pictures? I am thinking of installing my old 16" LS400 wheels from 1999 on my newer 2003 LS430 to get the softer ride.

I'd be interested in your thoughts on how the ride changed with the 16". I'm still debating whether to switch to the 16" all year, or just use them for snow tires.

I would also be interested in seeing a picture. After my 1997 LS was rear ended and totaled in November I picked up a CPO 2005 LS-430 with 18" factory wheels and Dunlop tires. I too noticed the harsher ride and have been trying to figure out what to do about it.

This forum has been great and it seems as though getting the 16s is the answer.

Default 16" wheels on LS430 picture

Here is a picture I found through a Google Image search:

Certainly not as good looking as larger wheels, but should we really care about the evaluation of our vehicle by the people next to us on our daily commute?...First, no one really gives any thought to the car next to them, so I'm not going to delude myself that people mistake me to be a secret agent because of my fancy car and wheels ...Second, as Neil Young sang, "It don't mean that much to me, to mean that much to you"

(OK, I have to admit, I'm a little shallow and care about image to some extent...I'm not wearing velcro closure shoes and elastic waist pants, even thought they are the most comfortable...and I'm not driving a minivan, even though it's the most practical option, but I can live with the look of the 16" wheels to get a more comfortable ride on the broken roads of Michigan.)

All,

Thanks for the help in assuring that the fit, etc. would be right. Picture is attached.

Those actually look nice, much more then Id have thought. I always thought those were 17s.

Johnson, are your wheels and tires no longer for sale?
