NO, you won't lose homelink.
this is why you have to/should erase it (hold first and last button) when you sell the car.

The car battery powers everything.

not sure... i know there is a slightly more complicated way to reset the ecu rather than loosing all of your presets. on the old gs400 discussion board they had posted up exactly what 2 fuses needed to be pulled to reset it without disconnecting the negative battery.

i wouldn't try it if you can't justify loosing the garage door settings, but i would think of a backup plan incase i ever brought my car to a garage and they had to remove the battery cable (which has happened to me on more than 1 occasion). don't recall what fuses it was for the gs or if its even the same fuses for the LS but maybe this is something worth researching on our cars for those who don't care to loose the settings.

i thought it was a much greater pain to pull these 2 fuses since one was down underneath the passenger side kick panel and required some surcdesole limberness to get my hands and eyes both on it.
