I wanted to introduce myself. I picked up a 2004 LS430 with 66K miles. This is my first Lexus and its the most amazing car I have ever driven. I had a 2001 Mercedes S430 and a 2006 Nissan Maxima... but you cant compare.

All service was done from Lexus and ZERO error codes.

I did notice one thing. It does take a little to take off. It almost seems like there is hesitation but it could be because its such a huge car.

to fix the hesitation; remove the negative battery cable and leave it off for about 30 mins, then put it back on. this does however remove your radio presets and make sure your seat is in the position you drive it at cuz you will loose your seat memory as well but this is highly recommended for anyone who just bought their lex.

Ive heard the hesitation is programmed into the throttle by wire. I fly rc helicopters and this is called expo, the throttle starts off needing alot of pedal movement to get little throttle opening. The curve is programmed exponentially so that as you push it further the control has more effect.

Congrats on the new car! Great color as well. There shouldn't be any hesitation. My throttle responds instantly and minimal pedal effort is needed to move the car around, especially during low speed/around town driving. Try the battery thing, should reset the car.

yeah, i think i actually have this issue too... but i thought that's how it's supposed to take off... a slight hesitation, before anything happens...

it became so second-nature to me that when i got into my friend's rav4 v6, i almost smashed the car ahead of me trying to squeeze out of parallel parked spot since the gas pedal was so sensitive compared to that of my ls...

i looked around and the other threads say that removing the cable only helps short term until the ecu relearns. Ive noticed taking off the vsc helps (my car is '02), except the car is so quiet I didnt notice I was doing a burnout until I looked at the speedo LOL.

i have been doing this negative battery thing for about 5 years now on a gs400 and now an ls430.. here's how it works... it does, and about 5 weeks later if during that 5 weeks you drove like my grandma then you will have to do it again to see maximum results... if during that 5 weeks you drove like a normal person in the DC area than it should still be fine

bottom line, it works... don't hate until you try it for yourself. you sounded like our congress there for a minute ^ ^ ^...

Beautiful car - welcome - I don't notice any hesitation at all but I drive even slower than my grandma would. Texas drivers are so crazed that I always hesitate anyway before starting out just to reconfirm the douche-nozzles have stopped texting or reading email long enough to actually stopped for the red light, etc.

I read an LS430 review in some article somewere. The LS has a special throttle sensor that smoothes the throttle in. It basically prevents jerkyness from a takeoff from traffic light for example. I doubt any of you guys have any mechanical issues ............its just the design

Selecting the 'power' position on the gearbox's performance switch also improves throttle response. You'll get a much more linear throttle control curve than in the ecomony position. My fuel usage actually went down slightly with the switch in the power position also...

no problem losing my radio and driver seat presets, but if i lose the homelink/garage door settings, i won't be able to get all of them back...

does the car battery power homelink?
