Default 05 ls430 steering colomn tilt and telescope

Does anyone know if there is a way to stop the steering wheel from retracting and tilting up when you remove the key to exit the vehicle?
Thanks!

Hopefully you are friends with the dealer- They are the only ones that can do it. Ive heard it costs around 30 bucks to do it.

Yes, I believe that the dealer can change the "default" settings using a handheld device. The tilt and telscope can be turned off (I had this done on my LS400, of blessed memory).

When I took mine in for 60k service I asked dealer to do it. No charge.

I had it done at my Lexus dealer, it requires a change in the cbest settings - they charged me $35.

If you get anything done at the dealer then they can change that setting for you for free for sure. Go get an oil change and ask them to stop the wheel retract. Ive done this twice already at two different dealers

Not questioning weather its good or bad, just wondering why. Motor burn out, expensive repair?

The previous owner replaced one of the motors in the steering column. My wife didn't initially like it and didn't see the need. Now after several months of enjoying her car she is OK with it.

Based on reading the boards on the LS430, one of the car's few weak spots is a tendency to wear out the tilt and telescope steering column assembly - gears/motor. I had the auto tilt and retract turned off by dealer as a preventative measure since it runs the motors every time you stop and start the car.
