Default Navigation Help

Gents, sorry to bring up a topic that has been covered I'm sure a thousand times, but I'm at the point where I'm pulling my hair out and I don't have much!

Just bought a 2004 LS 430, love the car! I believe I have a gen 4 nav system with an upgrade to version 7.1 (guess 2007).

I can't stand that it becomes inoperable when driving. Can someone please help me understand how i can override this.

Many thanks, glad to be part of the club and sorry for the question.

Marc

I believe the override only works through version 5.x.

Has this just suddenly occurred, or has it always happened since you got the car? Sounds like it might be a scratched or damaged disc. Do all other functions on the nav screen work? Might consider changing the disc. Some members have updated their discs and might sell you their old one on the cheap.

I have never been able to override the nav system once driving. In past posts i read that it is a real ordeal to fix, you have to take your new updated version and merge it with the gen 4 or 5. A confusing process for a non techy.

Do you have an override on your system?

Thanks!

I saw the same video on you tube, but since my system was upgraded to 7.1, lexus got smart and took the loop hole out.

I upgraded my nav but maybe I'll consider going back. I regularly use the bluetooth, but rarely use the navigation. If not for the lack of CL leather and ugly dash, I would have bought a Premium edition.
