Default Will 215 55 R17 tires fit 04 LS430?

I am a new guy to this forum and would like to seek some advice on tires.

The OEM BRIDGESTONE TURNAZA 225 55 R17 tires on my 04 LS430 have run nearly 60,000 Km. The two front tires are wearing out faster than the rear two and will need to be replaced soon. It so happens that a friend has two new BRIDGESTONE TURNAZA 215 55 R17 tires taken off a Previa after four months' running and can offer them to me nearly for free. Can anyone advise me whether the 215 tires fit my car? What difference will it make? What precautions I need to take? And if OK, should I put the new 215 at the rear and the old 225 at the front for better braking?

Any advice will be appreciated.

They will fit, as long as they're both 17". You'll have a slightly smaller diameter tire so speedo will be off slightly. As the LS is rwd, I would put the 225 on back and 215 on front. You want more grip for accelerating, which is more important I think than decelerating. Also, it just makes more sense to have larger as the drive wheels.

Thanks AlexusAnja for the advice. Since the 215 comes from a Previa, will it be able to support the much heavier LS 430 or as a result wear out faster?

BTW, the 215 is rated 94W which can carry 670 kg. whereas the 225 is rated 97W and can carry 730 kg. Will the 60 Kg. difference matter? Also if I accept the 215 to the front at this moment, does it mean that I'll have to stick to such a mode and not be able to rotate the 225 to the front until I replace all four tires back to 225 in future?

Any advice will be appreciated.

It will work but your speedo will be off a tiny bit.

I have always found that tires have as dramatic effect on ones car as anything you can do to it for the extra money for good tires and I run em to 5/32 and nothing less.

They last a long time. The other 2 tires are probably not to far behind. Unless you are really poor I would just bite the bullet and get 4 new Primacy or Serenity or Conti DW whatever tires. You still have to mount/balance them and pay for rotations if you go the route you are. JMO No offense intended.

The 670 or 730 kg load per tire you're referring to is eqivalent of a 6000 or 6570 lb vehicle.... even loaded with 5 adults, you're not going to exceed that on the LS430. Also, load ratings are for reference and with load factors and safety factors built in, the tires will probably load easily to 10,000 lbs (approx. 4400 kg) of total vehicle weight.

As for ability to still rotate, you can certainly do that if you wish, but as stated before, you would lose traction on the drive wheels when you move the 215 to the back. But look at it this way, 215 or 225, 10 mm is not that much one way or the other. It's not like you're running 285 rear and 215 front.

You should be fine getting those tires, just you'll be spinning one set faster than the other, but it's not AWD vehicle, so don't worry.

You bought them? I thought this was a friend? If the tires are used, he should have just given them to you... ha ha.
