XM Radio Question

XM Radio Question
So I bought my LS430 the beginning of last month and have had XM radio since. Once March rolled around I assumed that either the previous owner forgot to cancel or they purchased a lifetime subscription. Well today I got in my car and the radio automatically went to AM. I hit the satellite button, nothing. I tried using the voice command which usually will work and it does nothing. The strange thing is it worked this morning, but this afternoon it is not. So my question is when satellite radio is not active in this car is the button entirely non functional? I read that it should work and tune to channel 0 but that this may not be the case on every car. This is the factory integrated unit, is my XM tuner dead or is service just cancelled and I need to call and reactivate?

I think I will be facing the same thing within a month or so. However, I have no intention to keep the service. So, I will remove that small square antenna on top of my trunk and hide it inside. Has anyone done that? any advice - not to damage paint and where to hide the antenna? Thx

Dealer told me not to take the antenna off as the threads will get corroded and the antenna will not go back on if that matters. I do 25k plus a year driving and find XM money well spent. I still cannot see the value of a playboy radio channel though.

I'm wondering if my subscription will cancel also, I bought my 05 in December of 2010.
I also removed the antenna from the trunk lid as it looked horrible. It was on the drivers side edge of the lid about halfway back. It's attached with magnets and adhesive. A friend used a small thin plastic wedge to pop the antenna off and then he buffed the area out with his buffer/polisher.
I re-ran the antenna to the rear deck right next to the third brake light. Just remove the trunk lining enough to where it sags down and also remove the third brake light cover, unplug the antenna wiring from the Sat radios box in the trunk and fish it through to the trunk from the passenger compartment. Follow the third brake lights wiring through the rear deck to the trunk and reconnect to the Sat radio box, just be sure to remember which color coded wire goes where since there's two of them.
