Default Is the stock exhaust as restricting as it seems?

Just wondering if changing the exhaust on my 02 LS430 will make a noticeable performance difference because it seems like such a restricted system. If I should change it, what should I get put on? (headers, piping, cat, etc) If someone has done this to their car please let me know it would help a ton!

Do some searching there's some threads on here where ppl changed exhaust. I seen one here at a gas station 05 with I think flow master mufflers and no cats and it was loud as *ell he was trying to sell em to me. He said that's how it was when he brought it. It was (flincmec)a with saddle interior.(Sorry if I spelled that wrong). But with cats it should much lower good luck.

Don't see too many exhaust out there for these cars. Plus I like my car quite.

i dont know how you sense a restrictive exhaust. The car has over 300 foot lb of torque. The whole car itself tends to limit my leadfoot though.

I know it has that much torque. Bit I want more. And having a very quiet exhaust means it's restrictive. I want hgher flow cats, bigger piping, etc. You can't hear this car at all. It has 3 cats restricting the exhaust. It could be much more powerful

Quiet doesn't mean restrictive, modern mufflers are extremely good, they muffled the sounds without being restrictive to the air flow.

If you remove everything, you gain 10 hp max.

The car would feels A LOT faster though, due to the louder sounds......it is all psychological

I removed the muffler on my SC430, the extra sounds definitely make it "feels" faster I looked inside my stock muffler, it is wide open, looks like a race muffler, I don't see any restriction at all, but it really quiet down the exhaust.
