I have just bought an 04 LS430 with 37k miles. It is the base version and I would like to install the sway bar. I see the you can buy one from Sewell for $107. Descriptions says:
"...the rear sway bar upgrade from the LS Sport suspension increase roll stiffness, particularly in the rear, improving agility and responsiveness upon turn-in and during slalom-type maneuvers."
Can you install it on any LS430 or only on the version with Sport susepnsion?

The upgraded (sport suspension) sway bar can be installed on a car without sport suspension. It replaces the slightly thinner sway bar on the stock suspension. (I had it installed on my CL.) I don't know if it works on the UL air suspension.

Perfect! I don't have the UL. After driving for a while in different situations, do you see a substantial difference between the sport sway bar and the stock the vehicle comes with?

I really feel the difference in crosswinds. The back end of the car doesn't feel like it's wagging down the road.

I installed mine about a year ago. It think it makes a difference at highway speeds but but my car has always been rock steady and tracked straight since I got it. Suffice it to say its not night and day difference but it does seem to help make the car hold a set better on highway speed curves. So a subtle change overall but given the low cost of this mod I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Call me crazy but I could fel the difference immediately. It almost felt as if my tires were inflated about 5lbs more if that makes sense? It feels as if the wheels are tighter in the rear now,, less flex or sway if u will. I now get why they call it a sway bar,, they should say a less sway bar
For 114 to my door and like $25 for the 20 min install I highly recommend it. Wow I'm amazed that I didn't get it sooner, had the car 3 years now.
Its not a huge difference but I feel like I most definitely got the monies worth. But these types of mods make the LS430 more like a bmw 7 series so I just want that to be understood.

if i had a lift and a ratchet air gun i could have done it easily. i watched and talked to the dudes/friends who installed it. they did two other things simultaneously and charged me $45 for all 3. the other two prolly took 15 mins to do and the sway bar prolly took the 25-30 mins, with me talking to them

oh yeah so i've driven the car about an extra 150 miles and averaged about 10mph more than usual since i got this thing installed
i'm not sure it thats good though, but i am enjoying driving this car even more now...

In addition to the sport sway bar, polyurethane bushings further tighten things up a bit. In the interest of always wanting MORE I really wish we could get a thicker/stiffer rear bar w/ poly bushings. Only one I could source so far was the SARD set which was a $1100+ shipped from Japan.
