Default LS430 battery box malfunction

Battery has gone "dead" three or four times and replaced after the first time without checking it's condition because it was "old" New one has failed but upon checking it was good each time... cleaned terminals and replaced and everything was fine. Died again this week and found that battery was loose in plastic box and must be moving around and working terminal cables loose. Upon inspection plastic box had broken where one of tie down rods inserts and was not holding battery in place. I am sure the dealer will charge an arm and leg for a new battery box but search on E-Bay came up empty. Any suggestions on where to buy a new battery box for a 2001 LS430 at a reasonable price?

My 2001 did the same thing. I went nuts trying to find the "thunk" when I turned hard. It was the battery sliding around. My tie down rod too has pulled through the plastic tray base. I temporarily placed a couple of pieces or wood at the base of the battery to keep it from sliding and so far so good. No, it's not a permanent solution but the cost of a battery tray is ridiculous.

I believe that the original hole broke due to over-tightening. I won't let anybody touch my battery hold-down with their wrench because they may not know it's just plastic.

I'm going to pull the tray and drill a new hole next to the broken one to see if that works.

Default LS430 battery box malfunction

Hey Bon: I used the blocks of wood solution as a temporary measure but would like to replace the plastic box ASAP and still avoid the dealer price.

It's part number 7443150050 and it's just under $90 at Sewell, a ClubLexus sponsor.
