What's an 01 UL worth that needs paint job
#16
i've said this before and don't mind saying it again. I would estimate that 50% of used Lexus cars have had paintwork. Some will only paint the front and rear bumpers, other will also do the hood. If the car was in a parking lot accident, like a side swipe, the whole side might need to be repainted... And, as some people have done here on CL, they decide to simply change the color of the car as part of their project ride. So, just because it has paintwork, don't use that as the reason to walk. Walk if the car is not mechanically sound and the price exceeds the re-paint.
A repainted car, returned to factory paint color, done by a good painter can cost as much as $2-5 grand (USD). Depends where you go and where you live. And, when done well, you can expect to return your car's value to near non-paintwork status. Used car buyers typically don't carry around a paint meter to check for factory thickness, but used car dealers do. So think about that if you move forward.

You need to disassemble the mirror to get to the mechanism and there you will see a large push nut. That usually needs to be pushed down/tightened to apply more pressure on the detentes for the retracting mirror positions.
